Sebelas Maret University accepts matriculants or prospective students through 3 selection routes: the National Selection for State University Admission (SNBP) with a quota of 20%, National Selection for State University Admission (SNBT) with a percentage of 40%, and UNS Independent Selection (SM-UNS) with a percentage of 30%. The selection system is under the coordination of the UNS New Student Admissions Selection (SPMB) secretariat.

SNBT is a selection for new student admissions using UTBK results or UTBK results and other criteria jointly determined by State Universities. UTBK is carried out by the Seleksi Nasional Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (SNMPB). SNBP is carried out based on the results of tracing academic achievement using report cards and academic portfolios. The report cards used are semester one to semester five for SMA / SMK / MA with a three-year study period or semester one to semester seven for SMK with a four-year study period. This selection is an admission route for new students carried out by UNS outside the SNMPTN and SBMPTN routes which include:

a. Seleksi Mandiri Jalur Ujian (SMJU)

b. Seleksi Mandiri Jalur Kemitraan (SMJK)

c. Seleksi Mandiri Jalur Prestasi (SMJP)

d. Seleksi Mandiri Jalur Disabilitas (SMJD)
