UNS as one of the educational institutions certainly tries to provide the best facilities for the entire UNS academic community, both in the form of facilities related to the learning process and other supporting facilities. Regarding learning facilities, it is undeniable that UNS as an educational institution is constantly developing to be better, this is in line with UNS’s programme towards World Class University. However, UNS’s focus is not only related to the education or learning process but also other supporting facilities. One of the facilities currently being developed is related to the provision of good culinary facilities for campus residents, in this case the canteen facility. The construction of a canteen in the UNS environment certainly needs to pay attention to several aspects in the development process. This is based on the fact that the canteen is a commercial catering business that can be approached as a restaurant or restaurant. If we look further when this approach is taken, there are several regulations that follow. If the UNS canteen is approached as a food stall or restaurant, the regulations that can be used as a basis for further development are the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1098/Menkes/SK/VII/2003 concerning Hygiene Sanitation Requirements for Restaurants and Restaurants. The UNS canteen provides food that is safe, healthy, halal and meets the nutritional needs of campus residents. The university also conducts routine supervision of canteens in the campus environment.
